2000 – 2010

2000-2010

The transition to the new millennium is going without any problems for HCT. Bert Willemsen Jr. has been the new conductor since 2000, succeeding Theo Jansen. When Bert leaves in 2004, a somewhat difficult period begins, in which three new conductors soon give up. Fortunately, Bert is prepared to return as a conductor in 2009, which means that the musical direction of the orchestra is once again in safe hands, much to the satisfaction of the members.

HCT keeps up with the modern times and from 2001 the association has its own website, nowadays under the address www.harmoniecorpstuindorp.nl.

Again in Paradiso

In 2006 HCT cooperates in the musical spectacle "La nuit de Tomoko", a project by composer Merlijn Twaalfhoven. The evening takes place in Paradiso, which reminds many members of their previous performances with Dogtroep. Quirky music: one song is not played "in time", but "on the clock", that is, a stopwatch determines when the musicians should play; take some getting used to!

New rehearsal space

In 2006, HCT moved to the current rehearsal space of daycare center De Rank on Druivenstraat after living for a few years in De Raadskelder of the Catholic Sacramentskerk on Kometensingel after being forced to leave De Werf due to a renovation there. The Raadskelder is being abandoned due to the closure of the church. The rehearsals take place in the gym of De Rank, where a private storage space for instruments and music library is also being created with the flexible cooperation of the managers of De Rank.

85 years

The 85th anniversary of the association will be celebrated modestly in 2007. The spring concert is dedicated to the anniversary by playing music pieces that had previously been on the program of the orchestra. In September there is a day out with a visit to Het Loo palace in Apeldoorn, a concert in a retirement home in Amersfoort and unlimited Chinese (the food, not the people) in Putten.

Workshop for grownups

A frustration for music associations is the high turnover of young members. Many young people start enthusiastically with music lessons, but often give up quickly for all kinds of reasons. To fish in a different pond, HCT starts in 2008 with a clarinet workshop for adults, which appears to be fairly popular. After the workshop of about six months, the students can continue with individual clarinet lessons. After a few years, the first workshop participants are now playing their part in the main concert band!
